Greg & Denise in Milwaukee

Until I saw this picture I'd forgotten that you guys were in Milwaukee for a time. I think Dean and I and a couple friends stopped there on a ski trip out to New York in '78... Dean, you don't have any pictures from that trip do you? - mine all burned up.

Jean and Erica

'Sorry it took me so long to come on board. I'll start posting the "picture of the day" here from now on. So far I've scanned about 250 slides - only about 1000 to go (I think).

Stephen and the Cottonwood

Here is Steve standing by the biggest Cottonwood in Minnesota! When we got back in Alaska we read a story about one of the biggest Cottonwood trees in the Anchorage area, it was 21 feet around about 5' up from ground level. One of the biggest ones back in the woods behind our house is only 11' around about shoulder height.

Some Yellowstone Photos

Here are some photos from our recent trip to Yellowstone

This was the beginning of our backcounty hiking. This area was burned (last year?) and this year it was like walking through an enchanted forest with all the wildflowers...

This was one of our backcountry campsites. Looks kinda like the boundary waters...

This is me in front of a geyser...

Kurt in front of a geyser...

This is kind of neat...

I just spent some time making a profile for my Blogger account. Then I viewed my profile. My profile had hyperlinks for all the interests that I entered in my profile. When I clicked on the links, it took me to other profiles with the same interests. You find some interesting folks when you click on the more obscure interests. For instance there aren't that many people who put Klaus Nomi in their profile!

Salmon recipe

A very wild thing happened this evening after work. Lois Ann and i are now empty nesters and i was a little bored, so i talked Lois into going up to Bishop Creek. We took Ivy because Holly wanted us to bring her to the beach once in a while. There were some silver salmon swimming up and down the creek and one of them flopped onto that little island in the stream. I gave Lois Ann the camera and ran over to pick it up for supper tomorrow night. There are the pictures to prove it. No rod, no hooks, no net...wild Alaska salmon.

Here is the Steve Vollertson Salmon recipe:
This is for 1/2 a salmon - double the ingredients for a whole salmon
1/2 onion chopped
3 Tablespoons sweet cooking rice wine (chinese food section)
2 Tablespoon soy sauce
2 Tablespoons horseradish
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon rosemary
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
a little less than a stick of butter melted
Cover a cookie sheet with aluminum foil (this helps with clean-up)
Melt some of the butter on the foil
Place the fish fillet skin down on the foil
Stir up the above ingredients and cover the fish with it
You can let it marinate for a half hour if you want
Cook it at 350 or on the bar-be-que until the flesh is cooked.
It is good to spoon the liquids over the fish a few times while it is cooking
Do not overcook or it will be too tough

Group Blogs

Mark,

You asked about group blogs. I think you did everything right. You sent invitations out. If we respond to your email invitation to join the blog, it makes us create an account and then we can post to the eroundrobin blog. We become "team members". I must not have responded properly to your first invitation, because I didn't become a part of the group.

Later, I signed in using the user/password that you gave us. Then I invited myself to the blog again. Then I got a new invitation email. Then I responded to the email by clicking on the link in the email and this time it worked.

Salmon Recipe

Mark,
Can you post your Salmon recipe? Man, that was good at the reunion...

Dan's Select

WHO ARE YOU?
Jon was placed in his Grandpa Rundquist's lap and he wasn't too sure this was a good idea.

KURT SAVES THE PEPPERS

We were going over to Dean and Kurt's for dinner. It was raining. Kurt had recently planted some peppers. When we got there nobody was in the house. We wandered down to the fields and this is what we saw.

DON'T FORGET ME!

Jonathan and I fed the animals at Dean and Kurt's while they were on vacation.

Test from Dean...

Dean here...

It looks like you can create a new user and you don't have to create a blog. That way you can reply to a post with a unique user name. (See my reply to the "Some couples in the sun" post.)

Some day I will import all the pictures we took on our Yellowstone trip and post a few of the best ones.

Some couples in the sun

Can you ladies please put down your hands, and men take off your caps so we can see your eyes? This was at a park by Jeans house on the last day of our visit.

Do you remember this place?

This is the old 1711 E 5th. It actually looks pretty nice and fixed up. If you look at the photo from the front porch you can see Dave Munich leaning against the fence talking to his neighbor. After visiting with Dave for a while i walked up the driveway to see what the backyard looked like; some guys were eating in the kitchen and i told them that i used to live here. They let me walk thru and take some pictures.

Cousins and Brothers and Sister

Here are some pictures taken at the farm. It was a bright, sunny, and hot Saturday.
