John Morton. His signature is on the Declaration of Independence but, more importantly, he was Swedish.
Good job, Dan. I gave a little too much information with the last clue and made it a little too easy to google the answer.
The legend is that he showed up late and broke a tie in the vote for independence.
The thing that I find really cool - and just fully realized this weekend - is that Faith's mother's family came from the same Morton in Sweden that John Morton came from.
