Roseau ALS 5K
Here I am beginning the 5K in Roseau last Saturday. The main difference I can see between Holly and myself is that I look winded at the beginning of the race and Holly looks rested at the end.
I'm pretty sure it was the hottest, most humid morning of the year so far. I'm proud to say that I beat all the other old people in the race (everyone over 50). Don't misinterpret that for me being fast...

I wouldn't say you look "winded" just a little "concerned". But, hey, congratulations for beating all the over 50 crowd.
I don't intend to diminish your accomplishment, but looking at the photo. . .is there a possibility you were the only one over 50?
I didn't know you ran. Good job and for a good cause. Did you get a spot in the front as a handicap with your "gray hair" and old age?!!!!
Good observation, Dan, but there really, really were some other 50- and 60-somethings in this mass of humanity.
No, Jean, there is no 'gray beard handicap'. I just wanted to be in front so Faith could get a good picture. I think I'll continue to try to get pictures from this perspective. I love to see the determination in all the faces at the beginning of the race.
By the way, this was my third 5K of the summer. I hope to do two more...
Dan, you heard Aaron Espe on the radio a few years ago and liked him. He has a few new songs:

uncle paul, i just read an article about someone who ran an ultramarathon through death valley. 135 miles in 32 hours at temps of up to 118 degrees. maybe this sould be our next race?
Your eyes look like they are closed. Did you use the power of prayer to beat all the other 50 year olds?
