I Blame Paul

Some of us went with Paul and JaNae to a Twins game on Saturday. It was raining and we got drenched going to the park. The game was uneventful and the eventual shutout loss was hardly ever in doubt. But then, the very next day, Johan Santana strikes out 17, makes the national news, and enters into the Twins record book with the most strikeouts in a single game. He could have even gone on to pitch a shutout but both Johan and Gardy thought it best to bring in Nathan to close it out. If Johan had struck out the last three batters he would have tied the MLB record of 20 in a game!

I blame it all on Paul! Why did he insist we go on Saturday? Why not Sunday? In spite of the loss on Saturday we all had a great time. Dean even bought a large popcorn and shared it with everybody (except Jonathan). But now all I can think about is how much MORE fun we would have had if Paul hadn't insisted on the Saturday game.

Paul probably wanted to see their last lousy game before they turned things around. You may have seen their last bad game of the season, so it was significant. Just like the stock market, the game you went to could've been the low point of the season and you saw it in person!

Well, I'll have to think about that. But just look at the photo. Paul is catatonic. JaNae is nodding off. Jonathan is experimenting with how deep he can shove his fingers into his mouth before he gags. Peter looks like he's exercising by squeezing something between his palms. The only one who looks engaged in the game is Dean. . .but then. . .well. . .you know. . .we're talking about Dean here so. . .hmmmmmmm.

The Twins are winning, the Twins are winning! 3 in a row! Only 5 1/2 games out. They could go all the way!

It's so good to read such optimism!, Northberger and ms. Are the Twin's really turning it around for another exciting playoff season? I gave up again about 2 or 3 weeks ago and have totally ignored them, but then I'm also responding to comments that are 11 days old? We did get a paper this morning, maybe I should catch up.

By the way our mini vacation to CO was wonderful, some highlights being Royal Gorge and Pike's Peak and Bill Johnson 2 nights!

Does anyone read these comments 11 days later than anyone else?

Greg, there was a faint glimmer of hope for our beloved Twins back when we attended the game. Getting swept by the Indians in the next series doused that flame.

Where are the pictures? You can't just say 'our mini vacation to CO was wonderful'. What's up with that? It may have worked 10 years ago. Now we expect a complete blog posting with photos. If you need some help, simply invite Mark or myself over for dinner some night - we'd be glad to help you out.

We just finished a Bourne Identity weekend - 'Identity' on Saturday, 'Supremacy' on Sunday, 'Ultimatum' at the theater on Monday (free, of course, since JaNae works at the theater). I feel like chasing someone with my car...
