Happy Birthday to Me

In the comments below I declared Paul the winner with a guess of August 1971. The photos were developed in September of 1971.

Though I was a little baffled by this picture. I left for Alaska that June. This must have been my birthday that April. The lesson being, the developing date is not necessarily near the date the photo was taken. This photo was number 4. The Travailles was number 18.

Both Greg and Paul have this look like they're thinking, "Jeeze, I wish it was my birthday!"

I don't remember the knotty wood wall in the kitchen. Notice the posting on the wall behind Dean? I wonder if Mom and Dad had service people and missionaries pictures on the wall. I think Dan is trying to see how long he can hold that cake in mid air before someone hollers at him. He didn't even have a plate handy to put it on. Get with the program, guys!

I'm standing behind the August date - there are a few of us who had been working all summer on those tans.

I've been having trouble posting to the blog. (been trying for 6 days) It looks like comments are working so I'll try here to see if I can at least get a comment to work.

By the way, Jean referred to Dean, I believe that's Paul. And the "serviceman" on the wall is, I think, Bill Sjoblom. He was drafted the past fall and sent to Korea.

Sorry to be posting my mug all over here but. . .now Jean has me wondering. Is this our house? Ded we have wood paneling? Was there a bulletin board behind the kitchen table?

I'm convinced this was our house. There weren't many others with round tables. 'Probably not many others with trimline phones at that that early date... I, too, am questioning if that's me! It looks more like Dean to me. Dean, did you ever have glasses like that?

Earlier i wanted to make a wise comment but forgot to do all the stuff below. How much does Dan weigh and why is he taking 1/4 of the cake. Greg and Paul are wondering if they will get some. I remember Dan and Steve were usually finished eating about the time i got salt and pepper on my food to start.
