Turkey Day!!!

This year Amy and I decided to make a memory and join Dean and Kurt on the farm for turkey slaughtering day. As you can see there was much excitement to be had. We also gained a greater appreciation for our Thanksgiving turkey dinner, knowing all the hard work that goes into bringing that turkey to the table. We hope to make the turkey slaughtering day a tradition.

A BIG thank you from Kurt and me to Amy, Katie, and Jaden for helping out! Greatly appreciated!

As you can see in the first picture, we got one of the 6 doors back on our shed as part of our 7-year shed renovation project! I need to wash that jacket... I wore it to work the other day and noticed there were still blood spots on it!

The guy in the second photo (Rick) is 75 years old and is down to running only one marathon per year. He's the best eviscerater (look it up) we've ever had. We help him with his lambs every year--they raise two lambs every year...

It was a really nice day. It was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (as it always is on slaughter day) and still no snow--global warming?

One of our volunteers who was going to help got sick, so it was nice to have Jaden to fill in to help with the hardest part of the process. Amy and Katie were all smiles all day long as seems the usual. Jaden and I have something in common--he works at IBM and I used to work at IBM.

Greg came out on Friday to help with the pigs. Thanks Greg!! We'll get your pork to you soon!
