Thanksgiving week 1961

There is an envelope with 8 negatives in black and white dated 11/20/61. They cost 69 cents. There is also handwriting that says "some pictures taken days before Helen entered the hospital".

I recognize Grandma Carlson, but is the other woman John's mom?

Yes, Daniel, the other woman is Grandma Stynsberg. She is the one who lived in Hunter's Park until her sister died and she moved to an apartment near our home on 5th. Notice we have the same outfits on so apparently Grandma Carlson was visiting in Duluth. Does anyone know if Grandma C. took a bus when she visited? Did she ever drive?

I would say with 100% certainty the Grandma Carlson never drove. Mom (Helen) didn't even drive! In those days she could have taken the train! I vaguely remember the train depot.

Yes, Grandma Carlson always took the train. I remember the depot. Never the bus depot.

I remember visiting Grandma and Aunt Esther after Ralph and I moved to the Cities. I met them downtown St. Paul several times. Those were special times to me. Grandma, unfortunately was concerned about what she would feed me if I visited at the house. She forgot that I just liked to visit. So, after we had Ericka I visited Dad's cousin Mildred Larson (I think that was her name) and her sister in law (her name has escaped me but I think it was Ethel Olson). As a thank you for my visits they gave me a wooden music box and a round table that we have in our livingroom.
