Dad

Here are some more photos from 1936 (hands in back), 1936 (hands in pockets) 1937 (hands on hips) and 1938 at Bethel College (hands in dresscoat pockets).

Yesterday was Dad's birthdate. I tried to get a photo posted, but had some trouble getting it cropped and had to learn some things about photoshop elements. Maybe i will add some more soon. (On my other blog i can change the date and time of posting so late postings for birthdays and anniversaries are no problem, you never have to be late again.)

Could that be Grandma Stynsberg's store in Brookston? I don't remember ever seeing a picture of the store before. A store front like that could easily be down a street in America, now. Dad sure looked sharp in that suit. It looks like he had a white tie on. They came in vogue sometime in the 70's too!

Yes, I would assume that is grandma's store. Do you suppose the "denver sandwiches" were what I think of as a denver sandwich--egg with green pepper and onion? If so, I had no idea that perhaps she made some food to sell. Maybe she had a counter to eat at. And what is that sign on the lower left? That wouldn't be chicken dinner for 5 cents would it? I wonder who made the signs...

It looks like the "chicken dinner" is a "candy bar." I suppose the "denver sandwich" is as well...
