Forty Years Ago

I hope you are able to read this old Christmas letter. It is especially good towards the end. If you click on the letter a few times it gets bigger, at least in the Firefox browser.

Did I notice a factual error in the letter? Mark, wouldn't you have been a sophomore when Dancing-way-too-much was a junior?

Yes you both are right. I guess "almost-north-bugger" feels he has some pre-holiday time to leave some critical comments.

Thanks, Robin. I will now resume my blog-posting holiday.

Do any of you ever remember seeing Dad type? Did he have a secretary? Did Mom type this letter? It wasn't typed on our home typwriter, that had a different font. These are important ?'s!

There are about 3 copies in different photo albums. I think they are carbon copies? on thin paper. We have come a long way with copy machines. Or maybe they were done with some type of copy process that used black ink. It smudges quite easily.

Good observations from the Stynzone. Yeah, our old typewriter only wrote in caps, small caps and large caps. As to who typed this - that's a good question - I'm guessing a secretary at Northwestern Bell. What was her name? (I think it was an Indian name.)
