The rice terraces were amazing--hundreds of years in the making/maintaining. The water comes from the top. Then they make little rivulets that allow the water to trickle down from terrace to terrace. No water pumps needed!

Lois Holly and i went the following year and this was amazingly beautiful. I think the name of this place was Banauie. It is probably spelled differently though.
This is also one of my all-time-favorite photos! It captures Dad's intensity in getting 'the shot' don't you think? I think it's Banawe, no Banaue, no, I can't remember! It's pronounced ba NOW ee. What a gorgeious place!
At least no one had to wait for Dad to get ready to take the picture! We're thankful now for all the pictures he took.
i've never been outside of the midwest but i just had my first visit to the Philippines on your blog. thank you for the hassle free travel and the breath taking views. i'll be a frequent flyer aye... e-travel is so great!
